The New Wave of Online Music Providers
May 6th
Many people choose to listen to the radio through their computer-particularly those who are not allowed to have radios at work. For a lot of people, music gets them through their day faster and helps ease the stress from the boss, deadlines, etc…
According to Arbitron, the national ratings service that measures the listening habits of those who subscribe to traditional radio, more people are listening to radio and music on line-about 19 percent of those surveyed. Even those who are allowed to have a radio at work are listening online for several reasons:
o The station they want to listen to does not have a strong signal and it cannot be heard in their office.
o No radio station in their area provides the type of music or information they prefer.
o They are tired of commercials and endless talk by disc jockeys.
Online radio services have been sprouting like tulips in the spring. The latest entry, pandora, has received a lot of buzz for being user-friendly. It even goes so far as using a mathematical algorithm to try and find music you will like. But the two-year old site has limitations. If you prefer talk radio, you will be out of luck.
Another site receiving a lot of attention recently is rhapsody. For $14.99, users can download unlimited songs to their computers. Unfortunately users can only transfer the songs to a CD or MP3 player if they actually purchase the songs for an additional $0.89. The songs cannot be downloaded to the Apple IPod, the most popular listening device on the market. Instead, Rhapsody has introduced the “Sansa,” that allows users to listen to the songs they have downloaded.
The market leader for anyone wanting to hear radio online is Sirius. For $12.99 a month, the company offers 65 music channels and 20 news/talk/information channels that can be heard through a PC. Recently, Sirius has attracted some of radio and television’s top talents including Howard Stern and Martha Stewart. This service is also free to people who have subscriptions for their car or home receivers.
Radio over the internet is definitely growing in popularity. With so many different offerings, people will no doubt find the solution that fits their lifestyle the best. Fast on the heels of internet radio is internet TV. Technology is a wonderful thing. PE MP3 Players

Zune – A Heavyweight Contender For The iPod Classic
Apr 23rd
Zune vs iPod Classic you be the judge
With all of the Mp3/movie playing portable gadgets out there like, iPod, Zune, Sansa, Zen etc. how can one choose which digital media player will fit into their daily routine. I want to say whatever fits into the budget, but that issue seems to arise usually when, one you’re maybe buying one for your kid or youself as a gift and it’s a starter gadget or two you do have a budget and you can’t seem to wait and save up for the one that you think you want but when you start to research you learn there are so many out there that claim to have the best it gets confusing and three you don’t know too much about them and you see one that’s the right price and has the features that you like and it’s not that big of a deal.
Well for the gadget loving, I’ve saved up for it, I need one with all the bells and whistles type of people out there I have done a little bit of research and taken the top two digital players that always seem to be rivaling each other and in my opinion came up with the one that right for me and hopefully help you with your decision. But then again everyone thinks and see things different from each other and this is what makes every single person unique…just like the mp3 players right! So read on and find what I found out.
If your looking for an Mp3 player that can hold a ton of data in my opinion the Zune 30gb or higher is for you. As compared to the iPod Classic and the iPod holds a small lead in reviews, but the experts say he improved Microsoft Zune is the best alternative for those who are looking into not only Mp3 players but also movies. There are some features with Zune that are up to par and unique to Zune over iPod Classic. Unique to Zune is Wi-Fi, sync in wireless with your PC and your music collection. The 3.2-inch video-capable display is much larger than the screen on the iPod Classic, and yet Zune is about the same size. Included with the Zune is a FM tuner which you’re missing on the iPod. Also have you ever had earphones that were uncomfortable and always fell out…not with a Zune as it comes with high quality headphones that sound and feel excellent as compared to iPods earbud type. Also with iPods AAC music format you are pretty much limited mainly to the iTunes music store, great marketing for iPods, as compared to Zunes music supported formats,(AAC) (.mp4, .m4a, .m4b, .mov) – .m4a and .m4b mp3 and a whole slew of movie formats too. Now some consumers say that AAC formatting quality of sound is better but that is up for you to decide and how much of an ear you have to really hear the difference.
In summary it seems to me there is more versatility, if not for some other features, going with a Zune. Please don’t get me wrong, iPod’s are an excellent choice also when it comes to an MP3 player just not as many features as Zune.
